Massive Gents of Leicester platform clock
An extremely large and also very early railway station platform clock from makers Gent & Co Ltd more often referred to as Gents of Leicester.
The antique clock can be found in our 1907 and 1909 Gents brochure with original price being £49 in 1909.
The vintage clock is said to have originated from Euston Train Station London and was purchased along with a set of ticket drawers from the Railway Auctions "Railway Corner" in the 1980's but we have no confirmation of this.
The original hands and movement still run the clock, the slave movement would of once ran from a master clock in sync with other clocks from the station but now is supplied via a modern impulse driver which will be mounted on the rear of the case and can be either mains or battery powered.
The extra-large size of these clocks can make them a statement piece in any room, drawing the eye and creating a sense of visual interest. In addition to their unique design and size, reclaimed vintage railway clocks also have a sense of history and nostalgia, adding an extra layer of meaning and character to your space.
